Course Schedule:
Day 1 Jan 27th (8:30am - 4:00pm EST)
830-900 : Intro to screen
900-930: App and Screen Logistics (Login, Add gymnasts/gyms, Pricing, Waivers etc.)
930-1030: Movement portion of screen
1030-1130: Manual Muscle Test portion of screen
1130-1200: ROM portion of screen
1200-100: Lunch
100-400: Observe a screen and perform a screen with supervision
Day 2 Jan 28th (11:00am - 4:30pm EST)
11:00-1230: Perform a screen with supervision
1230-100: Answer Qs & Communicating next steps
100-130: Printing and Educating gymnasts about the evaluation summary
130-330: Individual performance and observation of screens on gymnasts
330-430 Prehab and wrap up

What if I have a gymnast who wants to be screened?
They can volunteer day 1 and/or 2, and get a free screen!

Unfortunately, no. We suggest bringing your own lunch or picking up some food nearby. Let us know if you have any suggestions!
How many CEUs can I expect from this course?
We are approved for 1.2 CEUs in California (CPTA #23-235). Please let us know if you need any information for you to get CEUs from your state.

Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will be able to
Independently perform a gymSAFE screen with an individual gymnast
Know how to organize a large group screen
Produce a report card that you can give to gymnast
Understand how to use the results of the screen to produce a report card
Speaker Bios:
Alyssa Herrera-Set, DPT, Co-founder of gymSAFE
Alyssa started gymnastics as a young child and has been in love with performing, observing, and teaching body movement ever since. Although her competitive gymnastics career ended before high school, she has never left the sport of gymnastics. She has taught recreational and special needs gymnastics for over 20 years. She received a doctorate in physical therapy at UCSF and pilates education through Polestar Pilates. She is a board certified Sports Clinical Specialist, and a Pilates Method Alliance comprehensively Certified Pilates Teacher. Her area of expertise as a physical therapist is working with pediatric and adolescent gymnasts and dancers.
She sees her role as a physical therapist as one who educates the public about injury prevention, assists people in reaching their goals after injury, and guides people in improving their performance post-rehabilitation.
She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, and USA Gymnastics. She is the owner of On the Move Physical Therapy in Belmont, CA . She has been published in the mobile application AgileMD, a library of trusted medical resources.
Jessica Wickizer, Co-founder of gymSAFE
Jessica is an active member of USA Gymnastics as a judge, choreographer, and nationally rated coach. She began her career in high school, and after 20 years of coaching competitive teams, she maintains a relentless enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics.
Jessica earned a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. While in college, she was awarded three consecutive coaching awards including "Rookie Optional Coach of the Year". While living in San Francisco, she worked as both a Developmental Director and a Head Coach, and was lucky to meet Alyssa Herrera-Set and develop a shared passion for injury prevention. She has found a new gymnastics home at AZ Dynamics in Tucson as a Compulsory and Optional Coach, and as the Preschool Director.
Jessica believes that watching students develop throughout their gymnastics careers, and beyond, is the greatest reward of her profession. She is passionate about the life long benefits of this sport. Keeping our athletes healthy is the key to keeping them in the gym long enough to maximize these benefits.
